The magazine made its debut in the fall of 1940, at the height of the popularity of the "pulp hero" magazines. It was published for twelve issues before it was forced to close due to the paper shortages of World War II. The final issue of The Masked Detective was Spring 1943. The Masked Detective returns in these vintage pulp tales, reissued for today’s readers in electronic format.
