Elizabeth Massie is an award-winning author of fourteen horror novels and collections, short horror fiction, licensed media tie-ins (Dark Shadows, The Tudors, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and more), mainstream fiction, poetry, and educational fiction and nonfiction. Her novella “Stephen” (1991) and novel Sineater (1993) both received a Bram Stoker Award from the Horror Writers of America. Thy Will Be Done, her 2010 novelization of the third season of Showtime’s original television series, The Tudors, won a Scribe Award from the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers. Best selling author Bentley Little has said, “Elizabeth Massie is personally one of my favorite authors. Her writing is true, heartfelt, and wildly original. She is one of the greats.”

A film based on Elizabeth’s short story, “Lock Her Room,” was written, produced, and directed by Kai Soremekum and aired during the Showtime network’s Annual Black Filmmaker Showcase Month in 2003. In 2012, Elizabeth’s story, “Abed,” was translated into a mid-length film by director/screenwriter Ryan Lieske, and it won the Radical Film Award at Thriller! Chiller!

More recent works include stories in the anthologies/magazines Tales from Crystal Lake, Dark Discoveries #25, Shadow Masters, and Qualia Nous,the zombie novel Desper Hollow (Apex Books), and the historical horror novel, Hell Gate (DarkFuse). Currently, she is at work on a YA historical horror novel, The House at Wyndham Strand, a contemporary YA superhero novel, Silver Slut: You’ve Got to Be Kidding Me, and Night Thoughts, a collection of gentle poems and meditations for the evening.

Elizabeth presents creative writing workshops up and down the East Coast to students in grades 3-12 as well as at the university level. In her spare time she manages Hand to Hand Vision, a Facebook-based fundraising project she founded in January 2011 to help those who are struggling during these tough economic times. Elizabeth loves geocaching and hates cheese. She lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and shares life and abode with her husband, illustrator/artist Cortney Skinner.
