Doc Savage Audiobook
The Desert Demons
by Will Murray and Lester Dent writing as Kenneth Robeson
Read by Michael McConnohie
The Desert Demons, one of the most intriguing posthumous collaborations between Doc Savage originator Lester Dent and his literary successor, Will Murray. While many of these novels are based on Lester’s concepts, almost half of The Desert Demons is the work of Dent himself!
It all begins in Los Angeles during the Summer of 1936one of the hottest on record. California swelters, and weird clouds resembling rusty blobs of blood begin appearing in the sky like angry coagulations.

Worse, they drop down to earth unexpectedly and anything they envelop—whether made of flesh and bone or metal—turns into powdery salt. Death and destruction abound. To combat this unearthly threat, the Man of Bronze summons his men from all corners of the globe, and they rendezvous in Los Angeles to plot the strategy.

But someone has beat them to the punch. Doc’s adventurous cousin, Patricia, is first on the scene, and when she disappears—a reported victim of the Copper Clouds—the Man of Bronze goes on the warpath to get to the bottom of the blood-colored mystery.

This is Doc Savage at the height of his powers, confronting the unknown, backed up by his entire crew. Their investigations take them from the sound stages of Hollywood to the Florida Everglades, dodging danger all the way. It doesn't get any better—or any wilder—than The Desert Demons!

Michael McConnohie once again gives a commanding performance reading this enthralling thriller.

Just finished listening to "Doc Savage - The Desert Demons" released by Radio Archives.
Written by Will Murray; and based upon a concept by Lester Dent, "The Desert Demons" is the first, if I'm not mistaken in the most recent Doc Savage novels written by Murray that fall under the moniker of "The Wild Adventures of Doc Savage."
"The Desert Demons" is indeed a wild ridge and it sheds new light on Doc Savage.  Doc deeply cares for Patricia Savage, his cousin and last surviving relative and when she disappears after foolishly deciding to investigate a mystery concerning the appearance of "Copper Clouds" in the California desert and the weird deaths that happen whenever they appear, Doc mounts a frantic mission to learn Pat's whereabouts and if she's still alive.
Without giving away too many spoilers, "The Desert Demons" is a crackling good classic Doc Savage adventure tale that provides new depth and insight to Doc, Pat, and the rest of the team.
