Dan Fowler: G-Man Audiobook
Big Shot
by C.K.M. Scanlon
Read by Paul Curtis

Crime held the United States in a deadly stranglehold…until the F.B.I. fought back! Handpicked by J. Edgar Hoover, one agent took on the underworld head on, two fisted and guns blazing-Dan Fowler, G-Man!

Ruled by a Napoleon of Crime, a vast combine of criminal mobs holds multitudes in terror while waging a grim, relentless campaign of piracy, pillage and murder! Follow Dan Fowler on the trail!

One of the authors who wrote Dan Fowler G-Man stories under the C. K. M. Scanlon house name stands out for one reason from his peers. Joe Archibald was both an accomplished Pulp author as well as a prolific Pulp artist.

Born in 1898 in New Hampshire, Archibald sold his first art, a cartoon, to a humor magazine when he was twelve. Three years later he won a Boston Post essay contest while failing English in school at the same time.

Archibald pursued one of his two great loves by studying art at Chicago’s Academy of Fine Arts. By 1921, he had moved onto Boston where he pursued his second love, becoming a reporter for a newspaper covering the police beat.

By the end of the 1920s, Archibald had found a home of sorts in Pulp fiction as both an artist and writer. He provided images for stories in Airplane Stories, Dragnet Magazine, Sky Birds, 10-Story Book, and many others.

Even more prolific than his art was Archibald’s writing. He penned over nine hundred tales for pulp magazines, not just in G-Men magazine, but including stories in Ace Sports, Adventure, Air Trails, American Eagle, Argosy, Champion Sports, Dare-Devil Aces, Dime Western, Doc Savage, The Shadow, Pete Rice, Fight Stories, Phantom Detective, and many others.

Joe’s writing also found its way into more mainstream magazines, known as ‘the slicks’. Some titles featuring his work included Colliers, The Saturday Evening Post, and Liberty.

Paul Curtis breathes life into the F.B.I.’s most relentless and skilled manhunter, Dan Fowler G-Man in the thrilling tale Big Shot! Originally published in the February 1936 issue of G-Men!
