Jackson Beck was one of the great Actors during Radio's Golden Age. Jackson Beck has the voice and sophistication of William Powell, so much so I often find myself feeling it is William Powell playing the part. Philo Vance was popular with audiences as the stories were well acted, well written and provided a good detective show. The only issue for me with the program is the modernized sounding musical score. I am not sure what the style would have been considered, but possibly an early 1950's Jazz style.
Radio Archives has produced these Radio Shows in sparkling audio and tonal quality, that I am sure are clearer than when initially broadcast.
The sets come in heavy duty plastic cases with separate inner plastic sleeves for added protection for the CD's.
Highly recommended, but get ready for an unusual musical score that modern listeners just may appreciate more that was the case for me.
