Radio Archives Pulp Classics
Action Stories eBook
Summer 1946

Total Pulp Experience. These exciting pulp adventures have been beautifully reformatted for easy reading as an eBook and features every story, every editorial, and every column of the original pulp magazine.

Action Stories was one of many pulp magazines published by Fiction House, also known for their air pulps (Air Stories, Wings, Aces, George Bruce's Air Novels), western pulps (Lariat Stories, Frontier Stories, Civil War Stories), sports pulps (Fight Stories, Baseball Stories, Football Action), detective pulps (Detective Classics, Detective Book Magazine, Bull's-Eye Detective), science fiction pulps (Planet Stories) and general adventure pulps (True Adventures, Jungle Stories, Sheena). Action Stories published its first issue in September 1921. During its 30-year run, it contained a mixture of subjects, including sports fiction, war stories, adventures in exotic locations, a few science fiction tales, and a good smattering of western adventures. If a story couldn't find a place in any of the other Fiction House pulps, there was always room for it in Action Stories. Not to say these were second-tier stories, each was top-notch quality, which explains why the magazine survived for an amazing 224 issues. The final issue was published in the fall of 1950. Action Stories now returns in these vintage pulp tales, reissued for today’s readers in electronic format.

Table of Contents:

A Complete Novel Of Mystery Range

Gun-Saint Of The Devil’s Night-Riders
by Les Savage, Jr.
It was everywhere... like a shroud, growing, billowing around them like unbridled storm clouds. Fear. Terror. The Riders of the Night. Soon they would come, sweeping across the range, burning, looting — seeking the lives of young Hayward and the girl.

A Novelet Of Colt Justice

Born For Boot-Hill
by Philip Ketchum
The job meant big pay to Steve Benetor... a hired badge on his vest, the law in his holster, cock-o’-the-walk in Cortez. It meant easy living — except that any moment he might be dry-gulched, except that four gunnies gave him orders and he couldn’t quit until they buried him.

An Action-Fast Adventure Novelet

Mixed Cargo
by Frank R. Pierce
A Gurkha who stole the wrong head. A Hongkong Madam who carried her husband in a blanket. A beautiful girl with a knife target inked on her breast. A weird, frightened cargo — engaged in a suspense-filled battle for life.

Fast Action Stories

Pushover
by Robert Muench
The tough thing about this fight was that Pinky had to keep his opponent on his feet...

End Of The Trail
by D.J. French
He rode into town slowly — a tall, hard man, dusty from the trail, wearing twins of death in his holsters.

Belly-Gun Buckaroo
by Joseph Chadwick
Kincaid wanted the girl. And he wanted peace in the Valley. But he could have neither, for his hate-filled heart was tolling him to a hot lead show-down.
