Volume I starts with a rare episode just prior to WW II, then examples of the Show during various years.
The members of the Barbour family become etched in one's memory quickly especially their unique vocal intonations.
The description of the Barbour home overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco, becomes a major point in the episodes. The climate, foggy, damp and cold become part of the story and events happening in the Barbour family life.
"One Man's Family" takes one back to a time when the United States was more in unison with itself and its' people. Divisions were not as common as is the case today, even with the beautiful setting of the Barbour home, which today would be impossible for only a few to even consider owning, but during this time, it was really average for an American Citizen.
Such family circumstances have certainly changed, but it is pleasant to look back and hear just how much more pleasant it once was in the United States.
