Dime Mystery Magazine eBook
John H Knox, Book 3
These exciting pulp adventures have been beautifully reformatted for easy reading as an eBook. As a special bonus, Will Murray has written an introduction especially for this Dime Mystery Magazine series of eBooks.
In 1934 a new type of magazine was born. Known by various names — the shudder pulps, mystery-terror magazines, horror-terror magazines — weird menace is the sub-genre term that has survived today. Dime Mystery Magazine was one of the most popular. It came from Popular Publications, whose publisher Harry Steeger was inspired by the Grand Guignol theater of Paris. This breed of pulp story survived less than ten years, but in that time, they became infamous, even to this day. This ebook contains a collection of stories from the pages of Dime Mystery Magazine, all written by Hugh B. Cave, reissued for today’s readers in electronic format.
Table of Contents:
Dime Mystery Magazine — An Introduction
by Will Murray
The Village Cursed by God — July 1937 issue of Dime Mystery Magazine
by John H. Knox
Ray Mehaffey knew that the forces of hell had indeed been loosed when he saw the girl he adored turn into a raving, lust-crazed being whose body was the ultimate sacrifice offered to the huge iron god his own hands had called into being!
Brides for Satan’s Pupils — December 1937 issue of Dime Mystery Magazine
by John H. Knox
A Satanic scourge clutched the peaceful town of Murkwood, transforming its fairest maidens into screaming, lust-mad creatures. Horrified, Bruce saw his fiancée answer the grisly summons, and in fighting to save her, fell himself — betrayed by one he trusted most!
Playground of the Tiny Killers — February 1938 issue of Dime Mystery Magazine
by John H. Knox
Young Arthur Denton pitted himself against the nameless influence that stained red with hideous murder — the hands of little children! How could he know that he was casting a net of horrible suspicion over the lovely playground director — the girl he loved?
Girls for the Gods of Fire — May 1938 issue of Dime Mystery Magazine
by John H. Knox
Carleton Farr saw beautiful Rosa Gorley become a willing victim to a mad Moloch who held grisly court deep in the caves of purgatory!
