Dime Mystery Magazine eBook
John H Knox, Book 2
These exciting pulp adventures have been beautifully reformatted for easy reading as an eBook. As a special bonus, Will Murray has written an introduction especially for this Dime Mystery Magazine series of eBooks.
In 1934 a new type of magazine was born. Known by various names — the shudder pulps, mystery-terror magazines, horror-terror magazines — weird menace is the sub-genre term that has survived today. Dime Mystery Magazine was one of the most popular. It came from Popular Publications, whose publisher Harry Steeger was inspired by the Grand Guignol theater of Paris. This breed of pulp story survived less than ten years, but in that time, they became infamous, even to this day. This ebook contains a collection of stories from the pages of Dime Mystery Magazine, all written by Hugh B. Cave, reissued for today’s readers in electronic format.
Table of Contents:
Dime Mystery Magazine — An Introduction
by Will Murray
Girl Into Mummy — December 1935 issue of Dime Mystery Magazine
by John H. Knox
Even death had been robbed of its peace and rest by the cold fiend whose sinister castle was a prison for the accursed undead. But the apex of his crime was reached when he sought to carry the lovely body of the girl, Norah, with him into the realm of eternal darkness.
Gallery of the Damned — January 1936 issue of Dime Mystery Magazine
by John H. Knox
The greatest criminals of past ages were stalking the earth again, clothed in the flesh of innocent moderns. Would Guy Deray and Frances Mormar succeed in tracking down the fiend responsible or themselves develop the evil passions of some long-dead, monstrous human beings?
The Flame Maiden — July 1936 issue of Dime Mystery Magazine
by John H. Knox
She was as beautiful as the flame from which she sprang. And though Rob Vaden knew it would be fiery death to love her, he damned himself to endless purgatory, believing that one so lovely must be innocent of the frightful crimes for which she was blamed!
Children of the Black God — August 1936 issue of Dime Mystery Magazine
by John H. Knox
What dreadful power could change the strongest emotion in the world — mother love — into a savage lust for blood and death, and drive Stell Carson to offer her child as sacrifice to the Block God midnight terror?
Coffin for the Living — November 1936 issue of Dime Mystery Magazine
by John Knox
Trapped in a mansion of the dead, Marta Lynn lay in a coffin and saw a terrible drama of horror carried out to its macabre end!
