Just finished listening to "The Spider #18 - The City Destroyer" released by Radio Archives. Mom and Dad always loved listening to Richard Wentworth's exploits as The Spider. The Spider goes up against a rather fiendish criminal mastermind who goes by the name of "The Master." "The Master" has killed a brilliant chemist who figured out a way to create a chemical solvent that can dissolve steel. Big deal, you might so casually think until you start to realize that every building in the United States, and the world for that matter, has steel supports. And every major form of transportation - public and private - uses steel. "The Master" causes skyscrapers to come crashing down, and the description is rather horrific in a post 9/11 world. [Keep in mind that this was first published back in January 1935.]
Another compelling adventure of The Spider! STRONGLY RECOMMENDED! FIVE STARS!
