The Black Bat #46 Audiobook
Inheritance of Murder
by G. Wayman Jones
Read by Milton Bagby

Out of the night comes a menacing winged figure! Blind district attorney Tony Quinn takes his battle for justice from the courtrooms to the streets, battling evil as The Black Bat!

The Black Bat takes the trail of young Richard Norton, a scion of wealth whose strange record of crime has no logical explanation! Tony Quinn and his aides face desperate perils as they try to find the answer to a psychological mystery!

A skill that made Norman A. Daniels, the author behind the majority of The Black Bat stories and the character’s creator, a truly great author was his ability to build solid, enduring characters. He proves that in his creation of Tony Quinn, a do or die District Attorney who almost does the latter when attacked in the face with a vial of acid while doing his job. In Quinn, Daniels gave readers a man on a mission, a man who was knocked down and got back up on his own two feet, and finally a man who attacked the criminal underworld with such a passion that readers simply had to follow along for fourteen years worth of adventures.

Every good hero, however, needs a good foil. Not necessarily an arch enemy, but someone who is out to get them. The Black Bat found that in Captain McGrath, a police officer. A good friend of Tony Quinn’s, McGrath determines to catch The Black Bat and becomes convinced that the masked vigilante may very well in fact be Special Attorney Tony Quinn, his friend. In various stories, McGrath attempts to prove his theory by trying to catch Quinn in slips of the tongue and even, on at least one occasion, having his eyes examined to prove he wasn’t still blind, which in reality he wasn’t. This didn’t even work for McGrath, however, who was convinced that due to their similar body structure and voices, that Tony Quinn and The Black Bat were indeed one and the same.
